Fender American Standard Double-Cut Telecaster

January 25, 2015 by Josh

Fender is introducing this interesting guitar, the Fender American Standard Double-Cut Telecaster, as part of of its ’10 for 15′ Limited Edition series of guitars:

Fender is pleased to announce the release of the “10 for ’15” Limited Edition Collection, a series of 10 guitars that will be limited to 500 of each worldwide, only at authorized Fender dealers from March to December.

Fender instruments have a storied history and are renowned for their collectability and their ability to be configured in unique combinations. These 10 very special instruments simultaneously illustrate both points, with our most creative minds and talented builders creating several highly distinctive and compelling new guitars sure to become sought-after collector’s items.

The Double-Cut Telecaster evokes the classic Telecaster look, just with a double-cutaway design. The guitar features an ash body and custom shop pickups. I expect that traditionalists may not like it, but I like it.

But I’m left handed and play a right handed guitar upside down. Have played that way 40 years. Have Am. std. Tele but limited by lack of cutaway. So this nutty thing is PERFECT. scheming to get one now …

I bought one in July and I love it. Purists don’t like ’em, but I do, and I feel this axe has been undeservedly and wrongly maligned. Those trashing it hadn’t even heard it, much less played it. This is a Telle through and through. I think it to be not only a great instrument, but also a great investment. Personally, (and I have been wrong before, but I don’t think I am in this case) those who were on the fence about picking up one of these but don’t, will be sorry they didn’t. Playing through a Deluxe Reverb, this axe sings. Bottom line – great guitar. I’m happy.

I bought the new double cut telecaster guitar. took me a while to get use to the new sound of the neck telecaster pickup…Does not have the twang like my 73 telecaster.. on the other hand I can play more kinds of music that I like . with not so much twang. the guitar stills plays country /blues/ rock. still some twang but not over done. the guitar is a lot lighter. glad I purchase the guitar.

Thanks for letting us know. I’ve still yet to play one. They seem to be an either “love it” or “hate it” type of guitar.
