Sean Costello

September 2, 2008 by Josh

I was browsing YouTube over the weekend looking at guitar-related videos and noticed some videos by a blues artist named Sean Costello. Costello had a classic voice, and was a great guitar player.

Unfortunately, Costello passed away this past April, just shy of his 29th birthday. This interview was completed hours before his death.

Before his death, Costello recorded several albums, which highlight what a talent Costello was. His most recent album, We Can Get Together, was released in February of this year.

Here’s a video of Costello performing a song called “Love is Amazing,” which has a great groove to it:

This is an excellent video clip that captures the sensation of playing live despite being a studio recording. Somehow it is in sync with a live performance (I think?). Costello’s guitar playing and singing style were refreshing. We lost someone special.

Great stuff. It doesn’t hurt that he’s got a great voice too, and I just really appreciate the fact that the song has a positive foundation. There’s way too much negativity in music now days. Great guitar work. It reminds me of some of the stuff that comes out of Africa. I could here Sting doing a cover of this.

Thanks for the reminder on this guy! I saw something else about him a couple months ago, and forgot about it.

    He was a cool musician.

    That’s a big loss.
    Great vocalist and guitarist.
    RIP Sean.

@ Tenny : you’re right about the african inspiration I guess, I didn’t realize it until I read your comment

He was a cool musician. I wish I could have seen him live; I bet that was a good show.
