At last year’s PRS Experience event, David Grissom gave a 45-minute master class to members of the PRS Signature Club. Fortunately, an attendee recorded the event so that those of us that missed it can watch it. At the beginning of the video, he demonstrates how he’s able to get a wide variety of sounds from his signature guitar and a single-channel PRS amp. Then, he begins discussing the types of chords he uses and some of his techniques. Check it out:
This is a video of Andy Timmons demonstrating the new Mesa TransAtlantic TA-30. He shows off some of the versatility of the amp, and he plays a little sample of his upcoming album. Good amp, and great player.
This weekend, the Country Music Hall of Fame opened an exhibit in honor of Chet Atkins. The exhibit is titled Chet Atkins: Certified Guitar Player.
As part of the exhibit, Tommy Emmanuel will be giving a special performance saluting Chet Atkins on August 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM CST. If you can’t attend the event in person, the event will be streamed for free on the Country Music Hall of Fame website.

The Fulltone Supa-Trem brings back memories of old tube amps with vibrant tremolo sounds. This pedal is true bypass with a LED status and speed indicator. It also has two large knobs for Rate and Mix that you can easily move with your foot.
This pedal is perfect for bringing some twang filled country licks or can be used to bring a unique flutter at will with the mix knob. The hard/soft button changes the sound of the pedal entirely going from a smooth wavering type sound or to extreme stutter.
The build quality is impressive. This pedal is more than ready to take any abuse from the road that you can throw at it. The pedal even has two internal trimmers to offer more options. One trimmer adjusts the volume of the pedal, and the other adjusts the amount of current that is used when the “soft” option is engaged. This changes the feel from intense to smooth.
If you are looking for one of the best tremolo pedals available, look no further than the Fulltone Supa-Trem. The cost is $190 new and approximately $120 used, which is pretty reasonable for a durable, high quality pedal packed full of features.
“He gave us the weapons,” Mr. Richards said to the crowd of 950 about the man who invented the Fender electric guitar. Mr. Richards’s parting shot to the crowd was what he called the “guitar players’ prayer”: “Caress it. Don’t squeeze it.”
Leo Fender was born on August 10, 1909. He would have turned 102 yesterday. His inventions have had a profound effect on my life, and I am deeply grateful that he chose electric instrument making as his vocation.
Wired ran a nice article on Fender to commemorate his 100th birthday in 2009. I’m still amazed by the fact that he never learned to play the instruments that he created.

The tour included stops in New York, Toronto, Chicago, Washington D.C., Dallas, Denver, and Seattle. The band has recently posted a video documenting the tour. It looks like the tour was a lot of fun for everyone involved. What a great way to give back to fans. Check out the video below:
