I think that it is refreshing and somewhat a responsibility of the guitar greats to impromptu visit and sit with aspiring guitarists and fans and let them see that there are no tricks involved -- just pure talent which he has. That alone is an inspiration and to then be asked to plan at the concert that night is a dread come true. Being able to see hear and touch these greats brings out the purist nature of the guitar and shows that while effects embellish they are not the essence of the sound. Bonamassa is a great guitarist and a great person to take the time to sit with a young child who aspires to be a future Bonamassa. Just like sports role models...music needs them too. What is also inspiring is Joe knows the theory behind what he is doing and that is his underpinning of greatness.

Don't get me wrong, I'm actually a big Joe Bonamassa fan, but a lesson like that would just make me want to give up. I think it's hard to watch someone play like that and then hand the guitar back and say - "see just practice some of that!"

Don't you just hate people like this? I blame my parents for not getting me started at an early age. That way, I'm not the one to blame. =)
